Another Monday, another metal song. Raise your hand if you don’t like symphonic metal. Everybody who has their hand raise is dismissed. Seriously, get the fuck out. For those of you with the good musical sense to keep your hands down we’re going to hear a song by Luca Turilli. Luca Turilli is the self-titled band by Rhapsody of Fire’s guitarist and songwriter. He turns out some incredible music and it’s difficult to settle on one song of his. I decided on War of the Universe because it has an awesome name, sound, and cover art (mecha always win me over):

I’m in the mood for some classic metal. Although I didn’t like either of Metallica’s last two albums nor do I like the way they went lawsuit happy during Napster’s heyday I still love their previous material. Metallica really was a classic example of American metal and Enter Sandman remains one of my favorite songs:

Since I spent the last two weeks exploring Middle Eastern metal I think it’s time to return to the roots of where metal really began, Europe. This week’s Monday Metal features a German pagan metal band by the name of Crom. No, not that Crom. This Crom:

This week I’m featuring another Middle Eastern metal band. Arsames is a band hailing from Mashhad, Iran and they play some absolutely phenomenal death metal:

I’ve found something, I believe is, rather unique for this week’s Monday Metal. Al Qaynah is a folk metal band from Afghanistan. Many people don’t realize that metal is alive and well in the Middle East even though some countries in that region have declared the music illegal. Ground Zero Pilgrims is an interesting sounding song as it has a very Middle Eastern sound but maintains a fast pace and a powerful sound. It’s an instrumental so if you need vocals this song isn’t for you:

I couldn’t come up with a new bad this week (not that I tried that hard) so we’re going to default to another Iron Maiden song. This week we’re listening to The Wicker Man from the Brave New World album, which marked the return of Bruce Dickinson as Maiden’s lead vocalist:

This week I decided to indulge my love of folk metal by posting a song by Tyr, a folk metal band that writes songs about Norse mythology and history:
