In one week it will be Halloween which means we need to get in the spirit of the holiday. What this place needs are some costumes and that means Gwar:

Monday Metal: Humans Being by Van Halen
OK I admit I’m really stretching the meaning of metal by posting a Van Halen song but fuck it, this is my blog and I get to do what I want. This week’s Monday “Metal” is the last Van Halen song featuring Sammy Hagar and it was one hell of a good song:
Monday Metal: Humppa Is My Neighbour by Troll Bends Fir
It’s Monday morning which means it’s time for metal. This week I’m presenting something that you’ve likely not heard unless you’re into the Russian Fold Metal scene that is. Troll Bends Fir came to my attention through Korpiklaani as Jonne Järvelä is featured on this song. It’s a unique sounding song and I really dig it:
Monday Metal: Rock You Like a Hurricane by The Scorpions
This week we have another entry in the 1980’s hair metal genre with a well known classic. I present for your listening pleasure Rock You Like a Hurricane by The Scorpion:
Monday Metal: Two out of Seven by Edguy
If you’ve never heard of the band Edguy this is your chance to become familiar with one of the best power metal bands out there. Their new album, Age of the Joker, was recently released and what follows is my favorite song off of that album:
Monday Metal: Poison by Alice Cooper
I’m feeling like we need more ’80’s hair metal here on Monday Metal so I’m giving you Poison by Alice Cooper:
Monday Metal: Wooden Pints by Korpiklaani
It should be well known to regular readers at this point that I’m a huge fan of folk metal. As I write this I’m drinking a beer and listening to Korpiklaani so this week’s Monday Metal is the song I’m currently listening to, Wooden Pints:
Monday Metal: Silicon Messiah by Blaze
After the departure of Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden the band hired Blaze Bayley as their new vocalist. He only recorded two albums with the band after which he had to depart and Bruce returned to his previous position. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the The X Factor, the first album put out by Iron Maiden after Blaze Bayley join, but their second, Virtual XI, is one of my favorites. Blaze Bayley now fronts his own band named Blaze and does some pretty amazing stuff. Blaze’s first album was Silicon Messiah and this is the title track from that album:
Monday Metal: The Trooper by Iron Maiden
It’s Monday morning which means it’s time for your weekly dose of metal. This week I’ve chosen one of my favorite songs by my favorite band, The Tooper by Iron Maiden. I’ll let the song speak for itself:
Hobo With a Shotgun
This weekend I had the opportunity to watch one of the few films that delivers exactly what the title promises. The movie is titled Hobo With a Shotgun and does in fact have a Hobo with a shotgun.
There isn’t much to say, the film is an exploitation piece so the gore content is extremely high while the story and writing are almost non-existent. You know what? That’s OK when the goal of the film is to replication exploitation films of yore. Instead of explaining the film I think two quotes pulled from the movie can actually sum up everything perfectly:
Drake: When life gives you razor blades… you make a baseball bat covered in razor blades.
After stating that Drake picks up a baseball bat that is covered in razor blades (and then hits somebody with it). The move it extremely literal. But the most iconic dialog in the entire film has to be the following:
Abby: You can’t solve all of the world’s problems with a shotgun.
Hobo: It’s all I know.
Seriously with awesome lines like that how can you go wrong? I attributed the second line to Hobo because the Hobo’s name is never given at any point in the film.
So what’s my rating on it? I don’t really have one, you should be able to tell for yourself whether or not you want to see it based on the information found at the provided IMDB link.
