Monday Metal: Helvetios by Eluveitie

This week we’re listening to another song from the genre I’ve mostly made up called history metal. Eluveitie’s album Helvetios is a concept album that covers the Gallic Wars from the side of the Helvetii. Since the Romans won the war the album isn’t exactly uplifting but it’s damn good nonetheless. The album is actually one of my favorites from Eluveitie and the title track is probably my favorite one on it:

Monday Metal: Touch In The Night by Battle Beast

Battle Beast, for those poor souls who don’t know, is a fairly new metal band that sounds like it came straight out of the ’80’s. The band recently came out with a new album titled Unholy Savior and it kicks ass. So this week’s song is pulled from that album. It’s may be one of the least metal songs on the album but I like it so you all get to listen to it:

Monday Metal: Romulus by Ex Deo

It’s time again to combine history of metal. This week we’re listening to Romulus, Ex Deo’s song about one of the mythical founds of Rome (because Romans were so far up their own asses they had to make up an entire mythology surrounding the founding of their city). The only downside to this song is that it makes me want Ex Deo to make more music but that isn’t happening.

Monday Metal: Nemesis by Arch Enemy

Do you know what makes anarchism better than statism? Music. Us anarchists have way better music to listen to than statists. Statists get shitty country songs about how awesome the illegal invasions being performed by the United States are. But us anarchists get to listen to amazing metal such as Arch Enemy:

Fighting for freedom is a way better message to get behind than bombing people in the Middle East.

Monday Metal: Romulu by Ex Deo

Since this is the first Monday Metal of 2015 I decided to go with yet another song that brings my love of metal and history together. This week we’re listening to Romulus by Ex Deo. As the name implies it is about Romulus, one of the mythical founds of Rome.

It saddens me that Ex Deo is no longer producing music. A band themed on Roman history is a veritable smörgåsbord of metal material.

End the Year with Metal

This is the last post of 2014. To celebrate the end of the year I think it’s appropriate to look back at how it started. The first Monday Metal entry for 2014 was none other than Amon Amarth. It seems appropriate to close out the year with some Amon Amarth. So let’s raise a rune to the memory of 2014:

When I decided to close this year out with metal I was really hoping I started the year with something good. Glad to see that I did otherwise this entire scheme to not actually write a post would have been in vain.
