Monday Metal: Silicon Messiah by Blaze

After the departure of Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden the band hired Blaze Bayley as their new vocalist. He only recorded two albums with the band after which he had to depart and Bruce returned to his previous position. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the The X Factor, the first album put out by Iron Maiden after Blaze Bayley join, but their second, Virtual XI, is one of my favorites. Blaze Bayley now fronts his own band named Blaze and does some pretty amazing stuff. Blaze’s first album was Silicon Messiah and this is the title track from that album:

The Most Metal Beer Ever

Amon Amarth have come out with their own beer. It’s called Ragnarok and is an imperial porter. Why do I bring this up? Because when I’m not bitching about the government, shooting guns, or writing code I’m head banging to death metal and being a pretentious beer snob. Imperial porters/stouts are my favorite type of beer so combining one of my favorite bands with my favorite styles of beer is nothing but pure fucking awesome.

This is getting ordered.

Monday Metal: Orion by Metallica

Before they turned into complete talentless assholes (I’m sorry their last two albums sucked indescribably amounts of ass) Metallica was an amazing band. Even though they started suing their fan base after promoting music piracy through the copying of their cassettes (that’s how they became big actually) I won’t hold that against their old music. One of my favorite things about Metallica’s earlier stuff was their use of the guitar, I just flat out enjoy it. Thus I’m brining you a little lesser known song of theirs titled Orion. It’s entirely instrumental and awesome so sit back, relax, and listen to some amazing music.
