This week we’re going with a power metal band from the heavier side of the spectrum. Civilization One is a fairly new band, founded in 2006, that manages to add in a heavier sound that is common from newer power metal bands. Also harkening back to power metal bands of old it seems that Civilization One has adopted the strategy of waiting forever between album releases (their debut album was released in 2007 and their second album was released in 2012). The band has a pretty good sound to it:

Monday Metal: The Toreador March by Christopher Lee
Unless you’ve been living under a rock you’ve heard about the passing of metal legend Christopher Lee. In addition to being a fencer, actor, and basically everything else that’s awesome Christopher Lee was also the oldest performer in metal. To celebrate his career this week’s Monday Metal will be a song from his final EP, The Toreador March:
Monday Metal: Avalanche by Arch Enemy
Full Video of the Panel Discussion with William Binney, Todd Pierce, and Myself
I said I’d post video of the panel discussion once it was available. Robin Hensel was good enough to upload the video to YouTube very quickly. There are two videos. Here’s part one:
Here’s part two:
Now if you’ll excuse me I have an e-mail server to beat with a wrench. Do you want some valuable life advice? Ubuntu Server is not a good base to build an e-mail server on. The repository still has Dovecot 2.2.9 even though the latest version is 2.2.18. I also had a hell of a time getting it to actually disable SSLv3 (I disabled it in the config file, restarted the service, and found that I could still connect via SSLv3 with openssl s_client -connect).
Monday Metal: Of Doom and Death by Savage Circus
I came across a new (to me) band this week named Savaged Circus. The band sounds a lot like DragonForce and ReinXeed, which isn’t a bad thing although it’s something I have to be in the mood for.
Monday Metal: Symphony of Pain by Paragon
I’m in a power metal mood again and I want something middle school (that gray area that lies between old school and new school). Paragon, a German power metal band founded in 1990, fits both criteria. Although the band just missed the ’80’s you can’t tell from the sound:
Monday Metal: Pilli On Pajusta Tehty by Korpiklaani
Korpiklaani just released their new album, Noita. If you’re a fan of Korpiklaani’s previous works you’ll love the new album. If you found their previous albums to be lackluster I can’t help for your shitty taste in music. Pilli On Pajusta Tehty is my favorite song off of Noita so I’ve chosen is for this week’s Monday Metal. Enjoy:
By the way, Korpiklaani is going to be playing in Minneapolis at Mill City Nights on Sunday. They throw a great concert and I highly recommend going.
Monday Metal: A Question of Heaven by Iced Earth
This week we’re listening to one of my favorite songs from my college days, A Question of Heaven:
Monday Metal: In The Name Of Metal by Bloodbound
Monday Metal: Du Hast by Rammstein
This week’s Monday Metal entry isn’t really metal. Rammstein is usually considered new German hardness, not metal, but their style varies greatly and they end up falling into different categories all of the time. None of this matters though because this is my blog and I make the rule. So this week we’re listening to Du Hast, which is probably the band’s most well-known song in the United States:
