Monday Metal: Buring Times by Iced Earth

You know the drill; it’s Monday which means it’s the beginning of the work week and thus some metal is needed to get things started off right. This week’s offering is Burning Times by Iced Earth. Bang your head but remember to keep it clear of your desk.

9/11 and Slayer

With all the new conspiracy theories floating around involving Osama and his body being discarded at sea I thought I’d try to start a new one on an old subject to keep things more interesting. The fact of the matter is the terrorist attack against the World Trade Center happened on September 11, 2001 which incidentally was the same day Slayer’s alum God Hates Us All was released.

I believe it would be trivial to tied Osama to the record company in some way and thus successfully claim that 9/11 was actually a promotional stunt by Slayer’s record company for their new album. Doesn’t that sound far more interesting? Just remember when you hear people talking about it in a serious manner you’ll be in on the joke because you read this site.

Monday Metal: Blood On My Hands by Demons and Wizards

To start this week off right I’m bringing you a song by a great band known as Demons and Wizards. Yes like many metal bands these guys derive their name from some of the nerdiest concepts which is probably part of the reason I love metal so much. Anyways this song should ensure your work day starts off with judicious amounts of head banging:

Monday Metal: Dead Man’s Reel by Suidakra

Here I am again hoping to help you get your week off to a good start. This weeks entry into Monday Metal is the instrumental song Dead Man’s Reel by Suidakra. We’re back to folk metal again and this time the strange folk instrument tossed in is a set of bagpipes. Heavy metal bagpipes rule and anybody who disagrees can feel free to keep their opinion to themselves.

Monday Metal: Die Dead Enough by Megadeth

Between his crying and whining about the evils Metallica befell upon him we often forget that Dave Mustaine can make some amazing music. This ability has lead to recognition as a great guitarist and earned respect for him and his band Megadeth. This week’s Monday Metal is one of my favorite Megadeth songs, Die Dead Enough:

Fooled you! You can’t actually watch the video here because EMI thinks only dirty scumbag pirates would dare watch an embedded video. What kind of crazy right do I think I have by posting publicly available content on my site anyways? The song really is wroth the additional click to watch on YouTube though so get going, I’ll be here when you’re done.

Monday Metal: Inas Mona by Eluveitie

How can you make metal even more interesting? By tossing a hurdy gurdy, bagpipes, a flute, and a violin into the mix. That’s what Eluveitie does and thus create a pretty unique sound. Best of all they’re going to be playing at Station 4 in St. Paul on February 9th. Here’s their song Inas Mona:
