Chronicling the depravities of the State.
I just find this funny…

Although I generally don’t like getting my news from CNN this story sure caught my attention…
http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/05/14/morehouse.justice/index.html
So let’s narrow this down. Some punk shot another guy and he has not only avoided jail time but is still going to be able to complete college? I don’t know what to say here except what the fuck. So let us total up this asshat’s punishment. He gets off on six years probation, a $1,000 fine, and 240 hours of community service! Sometimes I just don’t know anymore.
So I was browsing The Firearms Blog and came across this…
Stoeger is bringing out the Double Defense series of double barrel side-by-side shotguns. Go look at it. It’s a coach gun with rails on it. Yes RAILS on a coach gun, now I’ve seen it all.
A funny story from dvorak.org/blog…
Sony Picture Entertainment’s chief idiot, I mean executive officer Michael Lynton has this to say about the Internet.
I’m a guy who doesn’t see anything good having come from the Internet, Period.
There you have it ladies and gentlemen. The Internet isn’t good for anything.
Is somebody you know wearing too much “bling?” Then turn them in…
Britain’s new police campaign is urging it’s subjects to turn in other subjects if they are wearing too much “bling.” Apparently the government is putting up posts stating that if you think somebody is living a life of luxury and you don’t think they can afford it you need to turn them in.
So if you’re a subject of the crown of Britain and you see somebody wearing any jewelry at all place it safe and call the Ministry of Love, I mean the police.
Because if you don’t you can lose 13 years of work…

Some malicious hacker got into the servers used by avsim.com. The person in charge of the 13 year project forgot to back stuff up. Well not exactly forgot, he just had two servers which cloned themselves to one another. Which means when the malicious hacker got access to one server he was able to get access to the second server and destroy the data on both of them.
Always, always, ALWAYS and once again ALWAYS have off network backups. And if at all possible have offsite backups as well. That way you have a chance of recovering after a catastrophe such as the one in the article.
Yet another piece of legislature designed to club your rights as if they were baby seals…
http://www.saysuncle.com/2009/05/15/due-process-3/
And the opencongress.org link…
http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-h2401/show
The summary of this bill is simple, if you’re on the United State’s “no fly” or “terrorist watch” list you will be prohibited from buying guns. The biggest problem (of many) here is you don’t actually have to be guilty of ANYTHING to be on this list. Hence this bill will allow your rights to be stripped simply by being suspected of something, maybe.
Anyways here is the list of asses involved…
Rep. Carolyn McCarthy [D, NY-4]
Rep. Steve Israel [D, NY-2]
Hopefully this list doesn’t expand beyond two idiots.
Sharp as a Marble has a nice story with some good commentary…

Nothing much to say except a criminal broke into a man’s house, the man had a shotgun. He first smacked the guy in the face with the butt of the gun which made the criminal flee. Having a change in heart the bad guy came back so the home owner shot the ground in front of him.
I’m in the school that says if you are in a situation where you need to bring out your gun you are in a situation where you need to use it.
Welcome to the club Ruger…
I think it’s a little late but they have finally delivered an AR-15. It’s even one of those super fancy piston driven ones that cost an extra arm and leg. Personally I’ve always viewed Ruger as providing guns that didn’t have to cost you a small fortune. I find it odd that they decided piston driven was going to be the way they introduced an AR-15.
In all honestly though the market is so saturated I don’t know what they feel they are brining to the table that differentiates themselves. Heck I’m pretty much AR’ed out myself.
Here we go again (and yes I know this is old news)…
http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-h2159/show
Another bill to stomp on our right to bear arms, this time in the form of “fighting terrorism.” Summed up it allows the Attorney General to suspend your second amendment right if you are suspected of being involved with terrorists.
‘The Attorney General may deny the transfer of a firearm pursuant to section 922(t)(1)(B)(ii) if the Attorney General determines that the transferee is known (or appropriately suspected) to be or have been engaged in conduct constituting, in preparation for, in aid of, or related to terrorism, or providing material support thereof, and the Attorney General has a reasonable belief that the prospective transferee may use a firearm in connection with terrorism.’;
That’s right we can now declare somebody guilty based on suspicion. Here is a list of the jackasses, ahem sponsors of the bill…
Rep. Peter King [R, NY-3]
Rep. Michael Castle [R, DE-0]
Rep. Mark Kirk [R, IL-10]
Rep. Carolyn McCarthy [D, NY-4]
Rep. James Moran [D, VA-8]
Rep. Charles Rangel [D, NY-15]
Rep. Christopher Smith [R, NJ-4]
I say everybody write these guys a nice letter stating how much you love the idea of punishing people who are suspected of being involved with illegal activity. After all we can’t wait until somebody is found guilty before we bring down the hammer of justice.
