Incorrect Response

Another story via Says Uncle today. This one is aggravating to say the least.

What was the official response to the Fort Hood tragedy? Allow our soldiers to carry on base so they could defend themselves should another nutcase decide to start shooting the place up? No. Instead we get this:

Soldiers assigned to Fort Hood will have to register their personal firearms with the director of emergency services, he added. Fort Hood is home to some 50,000 active-duty soldiers and 18,000 of the soldiers’ family members.

The lack of logic of that response leaves me dumbfounded. So the directory of emergency services will now know who on base owns personal firearms and who types of firearms they are. So if one of them decides to go on a shooting spree they’ll have a better idea of what gun was used after many of our country’s finest are slain in a gun free zone.

How the Hell is this going to help anything?

Banning Rights of Those on the Terrorist Watch List

There has been a lot of stink from the anti-gun crowd saying we need to close the “terror gap.” It’s funny how everything is a gap to these people. What they really mean is we need to deny constitutional rights to people without do process. I think everybody knows now that the terrorist watch list is a secret list of names that you don’t actually have to do anything to get on.

Well Days of Our Trailers did a great post about the terrorist watch list. From his sourced posted there is a 35% error rate of the names on that list according to a Department of Justice audit. Of course I’m sure the gun control crowd doesn’t really care about that. After all they’re only OK with you having the rights they think you should have.

Government Lying About “Saved or Created” Jobs

Oh here’s a great one courtesy of the No Agenda podcast. You know all those jobs that have been listed as “saved or created” on the $18 million government run Recover website? Well apparently many of the congressional districts listed don’t exist. I guess it’s easy to make up a list of jobs “saved or created” in the magical land of Make Believe.

Not So Great Britain Strikes Again

Man I hate Britain’s government. Seriously if anybody reading this blog is a Brit do yourselves a favor and start a revolt. Days of our Trailers provides another example of the stupidity of Britain’s gun control laws.

This story involves one Paul Clarke. He is a 27 year old former soldier who thought he was doing the right thing. For doing the right thing he was found guilty of a crime and now faces up to five years in prison. What was his crime? Possession of a gun. Sounds simple enough doesn’t it? Well it’s not that simple. From the story:

Paul Clarke, 27, was found guilty of possessing a firearm at Guildford Crown Court on Tuesday – after finding the gun and handing it personally to police officers on March 20 this year.

Yes he found a shotgun. Believing it was his duty to dispose of it he personally took it to the police. Here is a thumbnail list of events:

he court heard how Mr Clarke was on the balcony of his home in Nailsworth Crescent, Merstham, when he spotted a black bin liner at the bottom of his garden.

In his statement, he said: “I took it indoors and inside found a shorn-off shotgun and two cartridges.

“I didn’t know what to do, so the next morning I rang the Chief Superintendent, Adrian Harper, and asked if I could pop in and see him.

“At the police station, I took the gun out of the bag and placed it on the table so it was pointing towards the wall.”

Mr Clarke was then arrested immediately for possession of a firearm at Reigate police station, and taken to the cells.

So Mr. Clarke found a shotgun. He didn’t try to illegally keep it. Instead he does what he thinks is the responsible thing and turns it in. He didn’t threaten anybody with it, he didn’t use it, he took it and went to straight to the police to turn it in. What the Hell was he supposed to do? Call the police and wait for them to pick it up? Oh wait they would be able to nail him anyways since the shotgun was in a liner and he had to remove it to see what it was. Oh damn catch 22.

If you live in Britain and you find a gun remember you’ll get the same punishment whether you turn it into the police or keep it. The only difference is if you keep you the police may never find it and therefore you won’t face jail time. Man that’s encouraging.

Finally I leave you with this golden quote from the story:

The intention of anybody possessing a firearm is irrelevant.

We don’t need common sense we have laws!

Is Anybody Surprised

It looks like China has been running illegal jails where citizens can be kept for months on end. Hmm a government which is based on a system in which control over the people must be maintained as created secret prisons in which to place people who don’t comply? Who would have guessed that would happen?

This is the problem with any system of government where the government has the power over the people. In order for the government to maintain control over its populace they need to scare them into obedience. Little things like secret prisons where citizens can be tossed for an indefinite amount of time while they are tortured works well in scaring people into compliance.

Mass Shooting on Fort Hood

I’m sure you’ve already heard about the shootings that occurred at Fort Hood. Major Nidal Malik Hasan used two handguns to kill 13 people and injure another 28. He was an Army psychologist who was facing deployment to Afghanistan.

Details are still emerging but I can guarantee the anti-gunners are going to scream for more gun control on civilians even though Major Hasan is military. That’s just a prediction. Likewise the Obamessiah had a statement about this:

It is difficult enough when we lose these brave men and women abroad, but it is horrifying that they should come under fire at an army base on US soil.

You know what? Bring our men and women back home and they won’t face the first and probably not the second either. Seriously why are we sending our soldiers to fight in a God forsaken part of the planet where we have no business? Cripes!

Oh yeah I forgot one detail which apparently was important enough for the BBC to bring up right away:

Maj Nidal Malik Hasan, 39, a US-born Muslim,

Yup he’s Muslim which means we’ll probably be jacking up racial profiling against Muslims again. We need to keep our country safe and the only way to do that is to discriminate against an entire religion because a very very small minority of extremists of that religion have done horrible things. Oh yeah and their a minority in this country, that’s important to. You can’t persecute the majority after all since, well, they’re the majority.

Anyways that’s the story.

The BBC was also good enough to provide timeline of events in relation to the shooting. Some things are brought up.

First off the guns used by Major Hasan were not military issued so the anti-gunners are going to be dancing in the blood with this one. They’ll of course ignore the fact that they say military personnel should be allowed to still have guns since they are trained and so super human that they would never do anything bad with a gun… oh wait.

Likewise the BBC is reporting there was only one shooter while other venues reported multiple shootings. Generally I trust the BBC over American news sources. Either way Major Hasan is in custody and alive although with four additional holes thanks to one brave individual who hasn’t been identified (that I know of).

The Fifth of November

Remember, remember the Fifth of November,
The Gunpowder Treason and Plot,
I know of no reason
Why the Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, t’was his intent
To blow up the King and Parli’ment.
Three-score barrels of powder below
To prove old England’s overthrow;
By God’s providence he was catch’d (or by God’s mercy*)
With a dark lantern and burning match.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, let the bells ring. (Holla*)
Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King!
And what should we do with him? Burn him!

Ah if only jolly old England had the same drive for revolution as they did back then. Anyways happy Guy Fawkes day everybody.

Internet Censorship on the Move Again

Those hounding for American ISPs to censor the Internet have a new scheme up their selves. This time, surprisingly, it has nothing to do with “protecting the children.” The new bill titled the Investor Protection Act has been introduced by Representative Paul Kanjorski, a dumbass from Pennsylvania.

The bill would require ISPs to block sites hosting financial scams. Let me rephrase that, the bill would require ISPs to block all electronic material related to financial scams. This of course sounds like a good thing right? Wrong.

This is what I call the negotiating with terrorists maneuver. As a country we have an official stance to never negotiate with terrorists. It’s a good policy because if you negotiate with terrorists you open the floodgates to other terrorists attacking you in the hopes of negotiating something out of you. If you legally require ISPs to filter any single thing it opens the floodgates to legally force them to filter other materials using the last bill as precedence. Gun control laws often get passed now because way back when somebody decided bills restricting constitutional rights were OK in one situation.

As it sits right now ISPs are not forced to filter any traffic. If you get scammed that’s your fault. But alas don’t be stupid and you won’t get scammed, just like real life. On the other hand if you do something illegal your ISP will cooperate with law enforcement to take you down. The system right now works and keeps the Internet an open medium here in the United States. We need to shoot this bill down less we start dealing with other filtering bills.

Citizens of Europe You’re Screwed

Bad news for those of you living in Europe. Your last been hope for freedom, the Czech Republic, has signed the Lisbon Treaty. It’ll be law soon as all countries have ratified it. That’s right the piece of legislation so bad it couldn’t be passed by a vote by the citizens so it was made a treaty, is now going to be law.

What does this mean for those of you living in Europe? Well first anybody deemed mentally unstable or addicted to a substance no longer has any rights. But most worrisome is there will be the European Army which will be centered in, take a guess, Germany. Because Germany has such a great track record when they have a huge army at their disposal.

California Screwing Its Citizens Again

Do you live in that People’s Republic of California? Well you have my sympathies in that case since you’re getting beating up by your government again. Stating yesterday California will be withholding an additional 10% of citizens’ paychecks. Oh but get this, it’s not a tax. Yes it’s mandatory and yes the state is taking it from your paycheck before you even get it, but it’s not income tax. You’ll get it back someday, scout’s honor.

As a citizen of the United States of America let me extend a welcome invitation to all subjects of California to uproot yourselves and come to the U.S. It’s actually rather nice here.
