The BATFE, Harassing Americans Since Inception

As anybody who reads the rambling I post can tell I hate the BATFE. I hate the agency because they justify their existence by harassing innocent Americans. Take for example this…

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/6505651.html

The BATFE is doing their best to go door to door an harass the inhabitants of the area because Mexico is blaming us for their crime problem. There are some gems in this article…

In front of a run-down shack in north Houston, federal agents step from a government sedan into 102-degree heat and face a critical question: How can the woman living here buy four high-end handguns in one day?

The house is worth $35,000. A screen dangles by a wall-unit air conditioner. Porch swing slats are smashed, the smattering of grass is flattened by cars and burned yellow by sun.

How can a woman living in a $35,000 house buy four “high-end” handguns in one day? Well first of all what business is it of the BATFE’s? Americans have a right to bear as many arms as they damn well please. Just because somebody lives in a small home doesn’t mean they can’t afford guns. Hell maybe they purposely bought a cheap home because they feel their money is better spent elsewhere. I know several people who have small homes because they don’t care about their dwelling and they would rather put their money into something to do care about.

All told, Mexican officials in 2008 asked federal agents to trace the origins of more than 7,500 firearms recovered at crime scenes in Mexico. Most of them were traced back to Texas, California and Arizona.

I love how the media loves to bring up the total number of guns handed over for tracing but never report how many guns actually traced back to America.

It turned out two handguns, of a type drug gangsters prefer, were bought by a pastor for target practice.

And what type of handgun do gangsters prefer? As far as I know gangsters prefer whatever they can get that will do the job. Some basic details would be nice to have. For all we know they could be .22LR pistols.

The lamest so far came from a police officer: He said he bought a few military-style rifles, left them in his car and — on the same night — forgot to lock a door. He couldn’t explain why he didn’t file a police report or why he visited Mexico the day after the alleged theft.

This I’m actually impressed with. You notice they said military-style rifle instead of “assault weapon.” As for the rifles going missing unless proof can be presented that officer is innocent under out laws. I’m not saying he didn’t sell guns across the boarder but I’m saying he’s innocent until proven guilty.

This sort of shit really pisses me off. It’s one thing if you question somebody because you have evidence pointing to the fact they are doing something illegal. It’s another thing to go door to door inquiring about a household’s firearms. Just remember everybody that without a court order you don’t have to answer an law officer’s question nor do you have to let them into your home. If you get a BATFE officer questioning you about your guns refuse to answer those question. If they knock and your door and want to come in don’t let them unless they have a warrant.

I also love how this article pointed out a handful of cases where the BATFE found weapons potentially crossing the border but didn’t report on the number of leads that ended up going nowhere. Bias? I think so.

Great Post Showing the Similarities Between Flat Earthers and Anti-Gunners

Rob Allen posted an excellent little spiel showing how gun control advocates are a lot like people who still claim the Earth is flat…

http://blog.robballen.com/2009/07/01/p3558-flat-earthers-and-the-gun-control-movement.post

From the post…

To this day, there are still people who cling to the belief that the Earth isn’t a sphere. No matter how much evidence you provide them, the Earth is Flat / Hollow / an Inverted Torus etc. They even have a non-profit organization. It’s called the Brady Campaign.

You see, all the factual evidence in the world won’t stop those who are anti-gun from continuing to believe that violence can be lowered if only everyone would just give up their guns. They keep making new laws that have no effect, so they make more laws. When the simple statistics and logic are brought up showing that increased gun control does little to curb crime and that criminals still continue to flaunt the law, they go an pull more and more ‘data’ and try to confuse the issue with statistical noise and outliers.

The U.K.’s Magical Gun Protection Barrier Failed Again

This shouldn’t be possible in Oceania but apparently the magical gun protection barrier that stops all gun crime in the country has failed again…

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/northern_ireland/8127532.stm

Apparently somebody fired up to three shots into a household in Northern Ireland. Of course as you know guns are all but totally illegal in Oceania so this shouldn’t be possible. I mean guns are illegal how could somebody break the law? At least the couple who lived there were unable to defend themselves. I mean if the shooter would have entered the house and the couple living there were armed they might have shot the intruder!

Thankfully Big Brother has made self defense illegal so good hard working criminals can go about the daily business without fear of being shot by a law abiding citizen.

The Species of the Anti-Gunner

OK I spend a lot of time bitching out the anti-gunners. I do this because I don’t understand them. They argue with emotions instead of facts which I find ridiculous. The lack of doing any critical thinking scares me in fact. And it’s so easy to see their arguments are emotional because when they try to debate the subject of gun control with an intelligent pro-gun person they are easily ensnared in hypocrisy.

For instance many anti-gunners claim they detest violence. They say we need to ban guns because they are violent devices that no civilized person should use. What they really mean is they detest performing a violent act themselves. When you ask many anti-gunners what their plan is during a home invasion it’s usually “Call the police.” And often upon arriving the police end up having to use violence to nab the home invader, often time after that invader has already harmed or killed the family inside the house.

Another part of the anti-gunner mentality is the lack of personal responsibility. This is apparent when they talk about guns causing violence. Take The Brady Bunch for instance, they say guns kill hundreds of thousands of people each year. They never say people using guns kill other people. There is a huge difference between the two. When you say a gun kills somebody you are saying the device is the cause of death. When you talk to a pro-gun person they will tell you the person with the gun killed the other person. This is because they realize a gun has no morals and no will of it’s own. Without a human using the gun it can’t do anything.

Once again hypocrisy comes into play. If somebody falls off of a roof and dies upon impact most people would say his death was due to him or her falling off of a roof. If we were to blame the device that actually killed him, gravity, we would say, “He was killed with gravity.” No anti-gunner I’ve talked to has described a fall this way because they know gravity is a force with no morals and no free will. But somehow guns are a different class of item with no morals and no free will.

Another observation I have about anti-gunners is the fact they love the role of the victim. This ties in with the hatred of personal responsibility. If you are the victim of a crime you have somebody to blame for your lack of good fortune. A finger can easily be pointed at somebody as the cause for your misery. I’m not in the business of blaming victims but there is something to say to being a victim who just gives up and being a victim who fought their damnedest.

For instance there is no guarantee having a gun on your person can prevent you from being murdered. But having that gun certainly increases your chances of survival. Hell even if you don’t have a gun if you fight your hardest against an attacker with your bare hands you are at least showing a desire to survive and not be a victim. When you ask an anti-gunner what to do in a situation where you’re confronted with an attacker you often get a line similar to, “Just do what the criminal says and you’ll come out fine.” The act of surrendering to an attacker and does not ensure your survival. How can you trust the word of a man who has threatened you? You can’t? But anti-gunners would rather you trust the word of a criminal instead of the capabilities of a law abiding citizen with a gun.

And of course if you bring up the idea of owning guns as a check and balance against a tyrannical government anti-gunners will call you paranoid and tell you that the United States government would never turn tyrannical. They also spew nonsense about citizens with guns wouldn’t stand a chance against the government should they turn tyrannical anyways. They refuse to stop and think about the situation. They won’t consider the fact much of the military would defect and many would be unwilling to fire on civilians. They also lack the historical knowledge to know what a few poor malnourished farmers with AK-47s did to our soldiers in a small country called Vietnam.

So as far as I can see the anti-gunner is a create of illogical arguments and false ideas. I’ve not met one who can put up an argument based on factual evidence. Maybe some day I will find that person but until they I will stay strong with my opinion.

Up Next NICS will Require a Urine Sample

I looks like the FBI’s NICS system is now requiring place of birth as well…

http://www.ammoland.com/2009/06/29/nics-now-requires-place-of-birth/

I’m sure this has nothing to do with anything nefarious they just want to ensure people from specific countries where the prevailing religion could be Islam can’t buy guns. OK maybe not but I really hate the NICS system so I’m taking every cheap shot I can at it. Seriously it costs a ton of money and doesn’t do anything except make people wait for delays when they go buy guns.

Minnesota Firearms Freedom Act

Fire Montana, then Texas, and now Minnesota. Since I felt this deserved it’s own post and I needed time to read through the law I didn’t mention it when I posted the results of the open carry picnic. But Representative Tom Emmer stopped by and let us know about the Firearms Freedom Act he authored for Minnesota…

https://www.revisor.leg.state.mn.us/revisor/pages/search_status/status_detail.php?b=House&f=HF2376&ssn=0&y=2009

Like other similar acts this one would exempt firearms manufactured in Minnesota for sale in Minnesota from federal regulation and registration. It seems like a pretty simple and good piece of legislation although it does have text in it to exempt machine guns from this bill. Either way it’s a great idea and everybody in Minnesota needs to write their state representatives about it.

Granted after receiving my reply from Ron Latz about his stance on several second amendment issues I’m doubting he’ll support it but I wrote him anyways.

Results of the Lake Harriet Open Carry Picnic

Well I just returned from the open carry picnic at Lake Harriet in Minneapolis. It was a great success with roughly 50 gun toting people in attendance. It started at 11:00 and the last few of us left a little before 17:00. The food was great, the conversation was lively, and the weather couldn’t have been better. Many of the people in attendance even brought their family along for the fun.

One lady did call 911 when she saw all of use terrible gun owner eating burgers and overall being happy. We only know she called 911 because the person who the dispatcher called came over and let us know with a smile. We all laughed. We did hear an awful number of sirens coming towards our area and that lady’s fact lit up with glee. Her high hopes were shattered though when it was discovered the police and ambulance were responding to a person having a heart attack further down the lake shore.

We also had one person come over with a desire for argument. He spewed off such things as how terrible it is us permit holders don’t have to take a urine test. His argument didn’t last long though after being offered a brat. He happily accepted and went on his way.

I know all the anti-gunners like to say anytime there are people together with guns there will be shooting and blood in the streets. So I’m posting the thing that the anti-gunners are so excited to see the body count of people who were shot at Lake Harriet during the open carry picnic…

Great Post on New Jersey’s New One Gun a Month Rationing

Snowflakes in Hell has a great post about how the citizens of New Jersey can get back at their politicians for passing the one gun a month rationing scheme…

http://www.snowflakesinhell.com/2009/06/26/get-angry-and-get-even/

It’s pretty simple really just vote Jon Corzine and Fred Madden out. Get rid of the two people most responsible for this travesty and let future politicians know you can’t throw gun owners under the proverbial bus.
