Glock Gets Approval to Bring More Jobs to Smyrna

A while back I mentioned Glock wanted to expand their facilities and bring more jobs to Smyrna, Georgia but were being blocked by people who didn’t want those jobs in their neighborhood. Well good news everybody, via The Firearms Blog I found out that Glock was granted their land request. This means they can expand their facilities which is certainly a very good thing.

Jobs, Jobs, Jobs, Jobs, Just Not Those Jobs

Apparently those bastards at Glock want to expand their factory and create some new jobs. Apparently local residents don’t like this idea:

Families who live nearby said they are worried about gunfire so close to their back yards.

“They’re not making toys — they’re making guns, and when you make guns there’s going to be byproducts through that process. They’re also testing the guns,” said resident Kim Childs.

Yup there are going to be byproducts… like employment opportunities in the community. How date Glock try to benefit the area by making new jobs available.

Another Glock .22 Conversion Kit

Gun Nuts Media let us know there is another .22 conversion kit in the market. It has the following features according to the website:

* 15 round polymer magazine
* Last round hold open
* Fits the GLOCK® models 17, 22, 34 and 35
* Factory GLOCK® sights
* 1-16” Twist chome moly steel barrel
* 4140 Blued steel slide

It looks to compare favorably to the Advantage Arms kit I have. But the big difference is Advantage Arms is a California company and thus their magazines are restricted to 10 rounds, this new one doesn’t have that limitation. Unfortunately this new kit comes in at $350.00 to $410.00 making it quite a bit more expensive than Advantage Arms kit which comes in at $265.00 if you can find one (that being a HUGE if).

I don’t think a higher capacity magazine is worth an additional $85.00 myself. But I’m waiting with anticipation for reviews to see if anything else the new kit does is worth the additional cost.

A Shotgun For All Your Maverick Reploid Hunting Needs

The Firearm Blog let us know the solution has finally arrived for the rash of violent Reploid uprisings that have been happening recently. They are calling it the Maverick Hunter after the government sanctioned anti-Maverick task force. Maverick Hunter [the task force] representative Dr. Cain has this to say:

Although I understand peoples’ desire to have a means of defending themselves against the Mavericks, I must also urge caution. Reploids are incredibly powerful and humans should avoid head on confrontations. I also feel that Mossberg is providing a false sense of security with their new Maverick Hunter shotgun as I don’t see how a shotgun of any sort could reliably destroy a rouge Reploid.

Likewise famous Maverick Hunter X had the following to say:

Seriously? A shotgun? To fight Mavericks?! See this gun on my arm? Yeah it’s an energy weapon that first plasma. It’s not a shotgun because they can’t reliably penetrate the metal exoskeleton that Mavericks are constructed out of. This product is wholly irresponsible to advertise in this manner.

X has helped suppress no less than 8 Maverick uprisings.
