The article then splits gun owners into two mutually exclusive categories…

There are plenty of folks who value the Second Amendment who also think keeping a loaded gun in the house is stupid stuff. (If there are children in the home, these gun owners see it as criminally stupid stuff.) Their emotional attachment to guns is tied to sport and skill, hunting and marksmanship rather than self-defense.

On the other side are the gun owners who believe they always are a split second away from needing their guns to stop bad guys. It’s too simplistic to say they view guns as instruments of heroism, but their mantra is that “they have the right to protect themselves and their families.” Emotionally, they tie guns to personal honor and self-sufficiency.

Although we often lump all gun owners together, the difference between those two philosophies of gun use is enormous.

The shooting of the teenager reminds us that the second philosophy is deeply flawed – an American myth echoing our frontier past. Guns are lethal weapons, and when a gun is seen as the first (and best) line of defense, tragedies are bound to happen – much more likely, in fact, than saving anybody’s life.

So apparently you either refuse to save your life using a gun or your a psycho path who can’t wait to kill a home invader. According to the article we are supposed to assume somebody breaking into our house is a teenager playing games. Let me tell you something if somebody enters my domicile whom I don’t know without my permission (that’s why we knock on doors people) I am assuming they are hostile and will take what means are necessary to defend myself.

Let’s get this straight somebody comes into your dwelling without knocking at the door, ringing the door bell, calling your, or any other method of announcing their entry and we’re supposed to not respond in a defensive manner because it might be some teenager playing a game? What about the other side of the coin? What if it’s some teenager doing an initiation for a gan that involves killing, raping, or robbing somebody? The bottom line is you haven’t a clue what an invader’s intentions are so you need to act in a manner to protect the most precious thing you have, your family and your life.

How to Stop Piracy, Russian Style

For £3,500 a day people can get on board one of these luxury liners. What do they do? Cruise around the African coast line and hope some pirates attack. Upon attacking the pirates are met with grenades, rockets, and machine gun fire dealt out by the on board special forces members. For a mere £5 a day people on the cruise can rent an AK-47 and buy ammunition for £7 per 100 rounds.

They are worse than the pirates. At least the pirates have the decency to take hostages, these people are just paying to commit murder.

Personally after the Somali pirates threatened to start slaughtering any Americans they find after we kicked their asses I’m none to concerned about the lives of these pirates. I’m sure they would (maybe already did) have made the same threat to the French but their special forces people made sure no feeling were hurt by killing one of their own citizens.

Anyhow I’m sure these cruise liners will be shutdown and taken out by other nations’ navies because the only people who should be able to bait and kill pirates are the government.

For the Minnesotans, A Page Tracking State Home Invasions

I came across a useful site today thanks to AJ187 on the Gun Rights Radio Network forums…

It’s a list of home invasions that have occurred in Minnesota. It’s very nicely setup and even includes a Google Maps application highlighting the location of each home invasion.

I bring this up mostly as proof that even here in Minnesota, where people think they are safe from the scary bad people, we have crime. This should motivate my fellow Minnesotans to at least draw up a plan on what to do should an invader come a knocking.

Vernon Allen of Moorhead, Minnesota shoot and killed an intruder in his apartment on June 20, 2009. That’s the good part now for the part I’m rather concerned about…

Police say a Moorhead man shot and killed an intruder who walked into his unlocked apartment.

Yes he shot and killed an intruder who entered his unlocked apartment. Here in Minnesota a lot of people love to boast how friendly everybody is. They say this friendliness is so strong that there is no need to even lock your doors. Bullshit. You should always have your door locked whether you’re at home or away.

Locking the door offer cheap prevention against unknown individuals entering your domicile. And no matter what a locked door needs to be dealt with whether by kicking through the door or finding an alternative means to gain entry into the building. This gives you time. The next part of this story that bothers me is the following…

He says when he didn’t leave, a fight ensued. The resident then allegedly got his shotgun, which went off during a struggle.

From how the story is written I am to believe that the man entered the fight before retrieving his shotgun. If somebody you don’t know enters your home you should assume ill intent. Upon this assumption you should arm yourself then confront the intruder. Falling out of this order and confronting the intruder before arming yourself is putting you at a disadvantage. Now it could be such a thing where the man was unable to get to his shotgun without going through the intruder but in that case it sounds like his home defense plan needs some tweaking.

Mr. Allen was not charged with any crime which is good. Some people are making a stink that the intruder was only 17 but in my book if you’re old enough to enter a person’s home without permission and fight him you’re old enough to deal with the consequences.

Just Because the Bad Guy is Armed Doesn’t Mean They’ll Win

The anti-gunners always spout the fact that if you are attacked you’ll be at a disadvantage. This is true but they claim this disadvantage is so great due to your foe being armed and already having their weapon at the ready that you’ll have no chance in Hell of getting to yours. This story flat out destroys that argument…

TAMPA – About a month ago, Audry Sauceda was carjacked and fought back.

He stuck a gun in my side and told me to get out of the car,” Sauceda said while sharing her story with FOX 13 on May 15. “And I pulled out my gun and stuck it in his face, and told him, he needed to get out. He screamed and jumped out of the car.”

Even though the attacker had a gun at the ready the owner of the car was able to get her gun out and into the would be high jacker’s face.

The bottom line is most criminals prey on what they perceive to be easy targets. They want easy money and objects that’s why they are stealing instead of working. To them it’s easier to rob an unarmed person than it is to go to work everyday like the rest of us. But once in a while they find a person who is armed and it turns their life to shit. Not wanting to die most criminals will run at the sight of a gun in the hands of the law abiding.

Of course there will be somebody who says if the woman would have just surrendered her car then she wouldn’t have had a chance of ill happening to her. The problem is you can’t make a deal with a person who is robbing you because you can’t trust them. Just because a criminal says they won’t kill you if you give them your stuff doesn’t mean they won’t kill you.

When Breaking into Somebody’s Home don’t Taunt the Owner

A rather humorous story when all is said and done…

A man wakes up in the middle of the night to banging on his window. He goes to investigate and finds his neighbor breaking in using a rake. Of course the home owner tells his idiot neighbor to stop several times and eventually the neighbor responds with “What are you doing to do?”

Well he received his answer as the home owner put three rounds into him. The neighbor was reported to have stopped attempting to break in after that.

This should drive home the fact that you aren’t safe even in your own home. This is why I carry on my person all day, every day. In fact my gun is sitting in my hop holster as I type this from my recliner.

Wow Some Peoples’ Ignorance Scares Me

So I was poking around on Kotaku this early morning and came across the following story…

The story itself is tragic since a child ended up shooting his sibling with a shotgun. Although rare these tragedies happen and when they do the anti-gunners run in and jump around in the blood and exploiting the tragedy to meet their own desires. I sometimes wonder if the people in charge of the Brady Bunch jump up and down for joy whenever they hear about a child shooting another one.

But I’m digressing again. The part that scared me most about this story is the comments section. There are a lot of ignorant people out there and being I’m active in the gun community I don’t see them all that often (granted many of my friends are liberal and strongly against guns but they know better than to try and argue it with me).

From a semi-random sampling we have this quote by a user named Quaro…

people who break into homes don’t break in them so they can kill. they do it to steal. so the heck with it let them take what they want, the insurance company gives it’s value back to me, and I report the crime to the police, they find evidence, they catch him end of story.

Tell that to college students whom had two armed thugs break into their home separating the men from the women with the intent to rape the women and kill all of the student…

Those thugs certainly didn’t come in to just steal some stuff. They came in with intent to rape and murder. If one of the students didn’t have a gun none of them would probably be alive today. But that’s not all this commenter had to say…

So a security system will allow the police to teleport to your location instantly? Wait it won’t? Well then you still have to wait for the police to arrive which usually takes slightly longer then killing somebody does. The sad fact is the police can’t be everywhere and they can’t protect everybody. Lord knows they do their best but they, like us, are only human. Meanwhile that gun is within reach and ready to be used in the defense of your life.

Best thing to do in a robbery? Barricade yourself in your room, and let them KNOW you’re calling the police. Yes I’m sure the criminal will instantly stop doing anything illegal once you yell you are calling the police. The criminals know just as well as you do that the police won’t arrive for a while. But don’t get me wrong locking yourself in a room is a good idea during a home invasion, preferably a room where you can cover the entrance with a shotgun so if the invader tries to come on in you can stop them.

Finally the concept of just letting the thief have your stuff is rather stupid to me. I don’t care about my stuff but I do care that the criminal feels they were able to find an easy target. I want anybody who breaks into my place to leave empty handed and scared shitless. Why? Because they won’t be so likely to return. If they know I’m armed and willing to defend myself they crook will probably try a different house next time.

The difference between people who proclaim the right idea is to just give up and do whatever a criminal says and a person who is willing to defend themselves is a matter of personal responsibility. The sheep (person willing to surrender) doesn’t want to take any responsibility. By just giving into the criminal’s demands they aren’t responsible for what happens afterwards, it’s the criminal’s fault. If they live they can justify everything as the criminal’s fault. Meanwhile I, like most gun owners, am not afraid of taking responsibility for my life. I don’t want to be sitting in my hallway stabbed thinking what a bastard that thug was. I want the criminal to be laying in the hallway with a bullet through him not thinking anything at all. I want to be alive and I’m willing to take responsibility for my own life.

The bottom line is your life, and the lives of your loved ones, are the most precious things on this planet. You shouldn’t expect other people to take responsibility for your most precious possession. Realize that in order to be entitled to live you need to be willing to fight for it. Survival of the fittest is how the entire planet works. There are wolves who prey on the sheep but then there are sheepdogs who can fight off the wolves. I personally am a sheepdog and I assume most of my readers are as well.

When did they get interested in reporting facts instead of the usual anti-gunner rhetoric they normally spew? Don’t get me wrong if they decide to start posting real news accurately instead of drumming up fear and hysteria I’m all for it. Hopefully this becomes a more common thing.

People of Congo Town Take up Arms in Self Defense

That’s right other people in other villages are arming themselves and making a statement that they aren’t taking shit from those who would do them harm.

These guys further show what a community working together can accomplish. If people of cities of “developed” nations would ban together to defend each other we would see a drastic decrease in crime. Oh wait I forgot most “developed” nations’ governments won’t do shit to defend their citizens but if you try to defend yourself or other members of your community your government may very well move in and arrest you. Just ask Britain.
