HTTPS Everywhere

I like this idea a lot. The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) has released a new plug-in for Firefox that attempts to encrypt every web page you visit via HTTPS. This prevents people from being able to sniff your web traffic when you’re browsing sites. Obviously I’m going to install it and give it a spin then let you know how well it works.

More Guns Doesn’t Mean More Firearm Related Deaths

Linoge is a big fan of doing things right. To that extend he decided to do actual work that us other bloggers could repost in a vain attempt to make it appear as though we also do real work (but those who know me know that I avoid real work like our government avoids civil rights). He put together a nice little graph showing increased firearm ownership doesn’t lead to increased firearm related fatalities. This is always a big thing the anti-gunners parrot and they often also have pretty charts to prove their point. They difference is where the numbers come from. Linoge obtained his numbers from the CDC and ATF and sourced them.

As an added note it’s good to see firearm related deaths were already on a downward turn before the Brady Act came into law deflating the idea that the little piece of anti-gun legislation was the cause of decreasing firearm related deaths.

Evo 4G Fully Rooted

Good news for anybody who owns an Evo 4G phone, it’s been fully rooted. Previously we’ve had rooting abilities but you either couldn’t write to the /system directory or could but had to reboot the phone in recovery mode to do so.

This should lead the way to custom ROMs being produced (a working copy of Froyo on my Evo would be awesome).

European Mass Shootings

We’ve all heard the anti-gunners parrot on and on about how we need stronger gun control laws to prevent violence. They claim if gun control laws here were as strong as those found in most European nations most mass shootings would be prevented.

John Lott did a quick look into the history of European mass shootings and found out the anti-gunners, as usual, are wrong. No it seems mass shootings have a habit of popping up in so-called “gun free zones.”

Self Replicating MakerBot

This is awesome. The ultimate goal to projects like MakerBot is to creating a 3D print that can print more of itself. Well that goal is now one stop closer thanks to a man going by the handle Webca. He managed to create an entire frame for a MakerBot using a MakerBot. He also posted the instructions online so others can replicate his work.

Civil Disobedience

Is awesome! Somebody in Tennessee received a $90.00 speeding ticket and was none too happy about it. Being a savvy Internet type he also saw that the issuing police department’s domain name was about to expire so he purchased it and put up his own website detesting the victim-less crimes of traffic violations.

Good on you sir.

A hat tip goes to Uncle this post.

Tennessee Governor’s Veto Overridden

Well here’s some good news for anybody that’s been keeping track of the shenanigans that have been going on in Tennessee over the restraunt carry bill. Their House and Senate voted for legislation that would allow people with carry permits to carry their gun into establishments that served alcohol (they still can’t drink which is what most mass media sources forget to mention). Once the legislation hit the Governor’s desk it was vetoed. Well that veto has been overridden.

Good work people of Tennessee.
