Go Minnesota

So I just checked the Brady Bunch score card for Minnesota. We score 15 out of 100. No it’s not great but certainly better than many. My goal is 0 out of 100 for this great state. Personally I like to call their scorecard system the liberty score system. If you score it like golf where lower is better you can estimate how much liberty your state grants you as related to your right to keep and bear arms.

I won’t link to those dip shits directly but here the link for you to copy and paste:

Why no direct link? Because it can increase their ranking on some search engines. Yes I’m that spiteful.

Zombies Have Rights Now

Shit we’re really fucked people. I just learned from Dvorak Uncensored that my own country not only renewed the PATROIT Act but apparently gave zombies fucking rights. From the story:

The U.S. Court of Appeals on Wednesday released a ruling in favor of a group of zombies who say they were wrongfully arrested while protesting consumerism during the 2006 Aquatennial. The ruling reanimates the group’s federal lawsuit against the city of Minneapolis and its police, seeking damages of at least $50,000 for each person arrested.

First I don’t know at what point zombies gained the ability to communicate and bring up lawsuits. Second I don’t know why the fuck the police of Minneapolis are arresting zombies instead of shooting them in the head on sight.

We’re so screwed. If we can’t rekill the undead they will overwhelm us all. Also apparently the police in Minneapolis lack the proper training to deal with the zombie apocalypse.

Paymer at It Again

Fellow Minnesotans it appears as though that state representative Michael Paymar is at it again and this time he brought Scott Dibble to help. These two are reintroducing legislation that would ban private gun sales in this cold state.

The two bills are H.F.2960 and S.F.2659. He’s pulled this crap before and has lost before so let’s make sure him and his buddy lose again. Write your representatives.

What Wussies

Seriously everybody is going on about the horrible snow storm that hit the east coast, even other countries are commenting. I don’t know about the rest of the country but here in the northern part of the midwest we call these massive snow storms “winter.” And to prepare for this “winter” we do a few common sense things like ensuring we have a supply of food, have needed snow gear in our vehicles, and wear heavy coats. You guys in the new global warming sector should look into those items.

Caucus Day Fellow Minnesotans

If you live in Minnesota today is caucus day. That means instead of staying home and watching television you should be heading over to your local caucus and doing everything you can to become a delegate and get your desired politicians in. If you don’t know where you caucus is being held the state has this handy tool to help you out. Personally I’m going to be trying to get Tom Emmers in as the Republican candidate for governor.

Mayor Steve Lampi of Brooklyn Park

The office of Steve Lampi has been very good to fill my information request in a timely manner. They’ve done an outstanding job providing all information between Mayor Lampi and Mayors Against Illegal Guns. I haven’t read through everything yet but I’m going to post what I have received. The documents linked here are not descriptively titled which I apologize for. I’m going to leave the document titles as I received them until such a time I can come up with a decent filing system and naming convention. Anyways here’s what I’ve received so far:

Minnesota Mayors Against Illegal Guns

We all know the organization Mayors Against Illegal Guns is a deceptively named organization that is actually Mayor Bloomberg’s personal crusade to disarm the American populace. Of course this organization is also fairly secretive with little information given publicly.

Thankfully there are laws similar to the federal Freedom of Information Act in every state. Since I live in Minnesota I decided to use our law to extract as much information about the organization as I can from Minnesota mayors whom are members. There are five Minnesota mayors in the coalition:

Mayor Steve Lampi of Brooklyn Park
Mayor Elizabeth B. Kautz of Burnsville
Mayor Don Ness of Duluth
Mayor R.T. Rybak of Minneapolis
Mayor Chris Coleman of St. Paul

I have sent requests to each of these mayors and am planning on posting all retrieved data on this site as well as Truth About Guns. There are two main goals to this project. Goal one is simply to find what information the coalition is sending to its members. The second goal is a little more complex.

We know many mayors don’t know the actual purpose behind Mayors Against Illegal Guns. This is known because may mayors have left once it was made apparent that the coalition isn’t against illegal guns alone, but guns in general. This lead me to believe the correspondences being sent to members are as carefully worded as information that is publicly released. If this is so this information could help us better fight Bloomberg’s little posse.

Periodically I’ll post information retrieved. Everything I receive will be posted regardless of perceived value or redundancy with information previously posted. I urge every gun owner to take similar actions in their state of residence.

F.Y.I. For Carry Permit Holders in Ramsey County

It appears that sheriff Bob Fletch of Ramsey County is rummaging through carry permit holder data to mine out addresses. He sent invitations to those in the country with carry permits for a fund raiser he was throwing. This potentially violates the law and certainly violates the trust of privacy between carry permit holders and the Ramsey Country Sheriff’s Office. Anyways the news bullitin is here.

I’m not sure if this is an actual violation of the law as I’m not very good at reading legalese but it certainly is a violation of confidentiality you expect from a sheriff’s office. If you’re a carry permit holder in Ramsey County and you received the invitation you should do some complaining.

Good News Minnesota, Coleman Won’t Run For Governor

I have good news to report fellow Minnesotans, Whiny Bitch Coleman (Who got into a hissy fit competition with Franklin The Whiner) won’t be making a run for the governor seat.

This hopefully means we might get a good candidate to vote for. Since Pat Anderson dropped from the governor race and went to the race for auditor I’m pretty sure I’ll be supporting Tom Emmers for this race. He seems to be a good free market supporter and of course he’s proven himself good on guns.

Either way regardless who ends up winning we shouldn’t have to be scared of another six month fiasco where we lack a political figure.

Another New Shooter

This weekend ended up being a combination of ups and downs. Being this isn’t the personal life of Christopher Burg blog (Most of the time) I’ll leave the downs out of it. The up of this weekend was I got another new shooter out to the range.

Well I shouldn’t say a new shooter but a shooter whom went only once and wasn’t thrilled. I don’t know why people think starting off a new shooter with a 12 gauge shotgun is a good idea but they seem to keep doing it. Anyways the new shooter, Monica, wanted to try handguns and needless to say I’ve got a couple of those on hand. I also have another female friend who likes to shoot and came along. I find that it’s best to have another woman around when you’re taking a new woman shooting and that proved to be a good move again.

I started her off with my Glock 30SF equipped with the Advantage Arms .22 conversion kit. This proved to be a mistake on my behalf because it was so cold the kit was malfunctioning left and right. On top of that Monica appeared to be afraid of the Glock. So I switched her over to my Smith and Wesson 686 .357 magnum revolver loaded up with underloaded solid lead .38 special rounds. She liked that gun a lot more than the Glock. Surprisingly with very little coaching she was hitting paper no problem with it. Usually when you give somebody a large firearm their instinct is to flinch which throws the rounds south.

We also had Monic shoot my other friend’s EAA Witness in .45 auto. I figured it best to start Monica off with a .45 from an all steel gun as opposed to my recoil happy lighter than air subcompact Glock. In the end she decided the .38 special was more to her liking and kept shooting that.

By the end of the range trip she was happy and enjoyed the new experience. Nothing like taking a new shooter out to make your weekend good.
