Don’t Use a Taser Like a Gun

Taser just released an advisory stating police shouldn’t use Tasers on peoples’ chests. I guess what works for guns doesn’t work for Tasers.

I think this presents a issuea. When using a firearm most schools of thought say you should aim at center mass which normally is the chest. The chest is a large target full of all sorts of organs the human body need to survive. Shooting somebody in this area makes for an easier target that will potentially cause a lot of trauma.

Mexico Still Screaming for United States to Disarm

Fuck I really hate the current president of Mexico. He’s got a huge problem with the drug cartels and his logical choice of action is to blame the United States. I know what you’re thinking this is old news and I’m several months behind on my reporting. Nope bad news from Says Uncle the president of Mexico and a couple former ambassadors are at it again. They say:

The Binational Task Force on the United States-Mexico Border listed the assault weapons ban as a step the U.S. should take immediately to improve security in both countries. The 10-year ban expired in 2004.

Really? BOTH countries? What benefit will it provide us in the form of security? Looking at the FBI murder weapon rates the number of murders in 2008 with firearms is only 99 people higher than 2004. But the number of people killed with rifles (as so-called assault weapons fall under) is actually 28 people lower in 2008.

If these “assault weapons” were so dangerous and a threat to security the number of rifle murders since 2004, when the ban lifted, should be noticeably higher. In fact since 2004 the number of murders committed with firearms in general has been pretty stable.

Further why would the drug cartels come here to get semi-automatic rifle when they can go to Mexico’s neighbors to get fully-automatic rifles for CHEAPER? That makes no logical sense. If the president of Mexico wants to unfuck his nation he’s going to root out corruption there, not attempt to restrict the rights of another country.

Al-Qaeda Planned to Use Large Hadron Collider to Destroy the Earth

See the headline for this article? Yeah well I came up with it myself so when you see it in the newspaper tomorrow don’t try to say I stole it. Anyways one of the employees at Cern was arrested due to suspected links to Al-Qaeda. For those of you outside of the loop Cern is the organization who controls the Large Hadron Collider that is supposed to be used to create miniature black holes.

Apparently Al-Qaeda was plotting to use this contraption to destroy the entire world, at least that’s what the media will be saying tomorrow. Apparently during questioning the arrested man said that he was put in place in order to steal the black hole generation technology. Once this technology was in the hands of Al-Qaeda they would use it to create a black hole bomb in an attempt to destroy all infidels in the world.

Another of Our Own Lost

Man I’m late with this news but alas it’s posted now. Gun rights activist Meleanie Hain was murdered by her husband. There is a good write up over at The Brenda Fallacy.

Likewise Random Nuclear Strikes shows us the “peace loving” anti-gun crowd is already dancing in the blood and proclaiming how happy they are that a gun rights activist was shot to death. Don’t believe me head over to the last linked article and read comments like this one by Doughh:

No offense but now there are 2 less right wing wacko gun nuts running around. Do feel sorry for the kids though.

Apparently Meleanie had become worried in recent times that her husband was becoming dangerous. It seems her husband had become abusive and she was making an attempt to leave him taking their two kids with her. In the end the bastard shot her and himself but by sheer fortune didn’t bring harm to either of their children.

Although we have a ton of “peace loving” anti-gunners dancing up and down a user going by the name of graycoyote tells us some very important details:

You’re conveniently leaving out a couple of details.

1) Scott Hain, not Meleanie, fired the first shot. She had privately confided with several of her friends that Scott was become more abusive and controlling of her life, and she was considering divorcing him and taking her two kids (2 and 6). It appears that early indications is that she told him that she was divorcing him, so he shot her with HIS service weapon from work.

2) Scott Hain was both a corrections officer and a parole officer, and officially considered a law enforcement officer under PA law. So a cop shot his wife with his service weapon, essentially.

3) All of you assholes who are just absolutely gleeful that she was killed, or it is some sort of lesson to be learned here that “guns shouldn’t have been as available to allow stuff like this to happen”, Scott Hain was a cop, who would be untouched by a majority of gun control laws even in places like DC, Chicago, and New York.

Yup no amount of gun control laws would have prevented this as her husband was a cop who qualified to carry a service gun.

Anyways for the few of you who haven’t heard of Meleanie she made the news a while back by exercising her second amendment right at a soccer game. The anti-gun crowd shit their pants proclaiming she was being irresponsible carrying a gun that close to *gasp* CHILDREN! In actuality nobody was shot and if somebody had been there to cause anybody harm Meleanie would have been able to give the attendees a fighting chance.

Hopefully her children make it through this with some semblance of sanity left.

Be Sure of Your Target

One of the rules of firearm safety is to be sure of your target. Well apparently that rule applies to piracy as well. A group of Somali pirates screwed up big time when they attacked a French naval vessel thinking it was a cargo ship. From the article:

“Once they realised they were facing a ship that was responding and was heading towards them, they stopped shooting and attempted to flee,” he said.

“The Somme gave chase and intercepted one of the pirates’ boats. All the weapons had apparently been tossed into the sea and the suspected pirates are now being held on board the Somme.”

So yeah if you plan on plundering ships on the high seas of Somalia you may want to make sure your targets are unarmed merchant ships. This story exemplify arming ships and their crews though. It seems the Somali pirates aren’t as inclined to board a ship when they are being shot at. Who would have guessed?

How Defense Stories Should be Reported

You know it saddens me that we have to go to India to find a proper response to self defense situations. Snowflakes in Hell has a good story posted about a girl in India who defender her family:

Militants often demand food and lodging in nearby villages.

When they forced their way into Miss Kausar’s home, her father Noor Mohammad refused their demands and was attacked.

His daughter was hiding under a bed when she heard him crying as the gunmen thrashed him with sticks. According to police, she ran towards her father’s attacker and struck him with an axe. As he collapsed, she snatched his AK47 and shot him dead.

Good work by his daughter. Also note that this is a story involving an AK-47 that was actually an AK-47. Any how as stated on Snowflakes in Hell if this story happened here the police would have to give a speech about how what the man’s daughter did was the incorrect action to take in such a situation. You know the usual speech police give when a person takes their own defense as a personal responsibility. Here is how Indian police respond:

Police have hailed the woman’s bravery.

They said she would be nominated for the president’s gallantry award.

She may also receive a £4,000 reward if, as police believe, the dead terrorist is confirmed as Uzafa Shah, a wanted Pakistani LeT commander who had been active in the area for the past four years.

That’s right reward the person who saved their family, don’t berate their actions. I wish the police in our country responded in same.

A Reminder Owning a Gun isn’t Enough for Self Defense

After something bad happens to a person or somebody they know they often respond by going out and purchasing a gun. I’ve talked about this before but simply owning a gun isn’t going to keep you save. Well Robb Allen heard of a situation and reminds us:

Getting a shotgun isn’t going to keep you safe. It’s not a magical talisman that wards off evil spirits. The only thing it does is help give you the advantage you need to survive a fight.

Before one thinks about getting any firearm for home defense, they should ask themselves a few questions

Am I willing to use lethal force and accept the consequences of doing so?
Will I train with the firearm so that in a time of crisis, I can use it accurately and safely?
Can I secure the weapons against unauthorized use such as children?

All of these points are important. Head over to his blog and read what he posted.

Why Actions are Stronger than Words

A big hat tip goes to Says Uncle for this story. Cameron Aulner proved what being a man of action means:

Westminster Police confirm that on September 19th, a man grabbed and molested a little girl. Witnesses say he picked her up and was headed for the door.

Bystanders started yelling for help. But no one stopped the suspect, 34-year-old Kevin Salyers. Until something even more unusual happened.

A man working at the Comcast table at the front of the store tackled the suspect. Even more amazing, the Comcast employee, 22-year-old Cameron Aulner was in a wheelchair.

Yup while perfectly capable bystanders started yelling for help Mr. Aulner, whom lost the use of his legs, decided to take action. Glad to see there are still people out there willing to act while others stand by and wait for somebody else to act.

Lies, Damned Lies, and the Anti-Gunner Statistics

Joe Huffman shows us once again how the anti-gun crowd lies. According to a web site ironically containing the word logic in the title over 500 children die each year due to gun related accidents. Bad news for the anti-gunners, the Center foe Disease Control tracks such information. And of course their statistic is right if you redefine children to be anybody 54 years of age or younger. Once again the anti-gunners show they don’t just stretch the truth they redefine it completely.
