Mayors Against Civil Rights Secret Document

Snowflakes in Hell let us know that California Gun Laws has obtained a copy of Mayors Against Illegal Any Guns Blueprint for Federal Actions. God I love Freedom of Information requests. Head over to the site, register, download, read, and get angry.

I’m still diving through it but Snowflakes in Hell already got through it and made a nice list of what those pricks are planning. And let me tell you it has nothing to do with illegal anything.

Because We’ve Done So Well In the Past

So I open up the BBC to get my daily fill or news everybody else cares about (in other words not gun related) and see this story:

President Barack Obama has pledged his administration “will not rest” until all those behind an alleged plot to bomb a US plane are brought to justice.

I’m sorry but I have little hope that we’ll actually nab the people who planned this. We’ve spent over eight years trying to capture Osama and so far haven’t (granted he could be dead at this point). We’re still trying to destroy al Qaeda but even though they are a far inferior military power they’re still around. Iraq is still a mess. Seriously does our government do anything right?

Don’t get me wrong if there were other people involved in the crotch bomber plot we should nail them. I just lack confidence in our government to do the job. I’m guessing this will end up being an invasion of Yemen (where the bomb was apparently from) meaning more of our finest men and women will be sent off to die in yet another pointless war.

Congress Members Trying to Bar Posting of Sensitive Government Documents

Remember the lead of the TSA Standard Operating Procedures document a bit back? Well it appears as though three jackass congressmen want to make it illegal for websites to post such materials. From the article:

In their letter to Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano (.pdf) on Wednesday, Reps. Peter T. King (R – New York), Charles Dent (R – Pennsylvania) and Gus Bilirakis (R – Florida) asked, “How has the Department of Homeland Security and the Transportation Security Administration addressed the repeated reposting of this security manual to other websites, and what legal action, if any, can be taken to compel its removal?”

They also asked if DHS is “considering issuing new regulations pursuant to its authority in Section 114 of Title 49, United States Code, and are criminal penalties necessary or desirable to ensure such information is not reposted in the future?”

That’s right Peter T. King, Charles Dent and, Gus Bilirakis want to bar websites from posting leaked government documents because our transparent government by the people and for the people doesn’t want citizens to see such documents.

Because I’m in a rather prickish mood I thought I’d do my duty and post the document on this site. So here it is everybody a copy of the TSA Standard Operating Procedures [PDF] document. Enjoy.

Switzerland Keeping Gun At Home

Snowflakes in Hell reports good news out of Switzerland. The Swiss government has rejected the whining of anti-gun zealots to bar Swiss militia members from storing their military weapons at home.

A few groups in Switzerland don’t seem to understand an armed militia is a good thing and they have been pleading with the government to disarm their society. I’m glad to see the Swiss government gave them the finger. Of course this won’t be the end of it and anti-gun cry babies always have another trick up their sleeves.

Because We Don’t Have Enough Prisons

So it looks like the denizens of Gitmo are being transferred to the United States. Where do you hold inmates of such a camp? In one of the thousands of prisons in this country of course. Of course Obama is not one to be frugal with money and seeing another opportunity to waste tax payer money he’s order the following:

US President Barack Obama has ordered the federal government to buy a prison in Illinois to take a number of inmates from Guantanamo Bay.

Yeah not rent, lease, or requisition but buy it. Oh Obama will you ever learn the concept of frugalness? I think not in his presidency.

Why Hurry?

There are talks at Copenhagen where our world leaders are discussing how to tax us for something we all produce. The United Nation’s climate chief is now bitching the talks are progressing too slowly. My question is why the fuck do they want to hurry (well to fuck is over before we realize what’s going on but I digress).

Even if carbon dioxide was causing the climate to change (hint, it’s not) what would debating this a few additional days cause? The world isn’t going to end all of the sudden just because we took a couple additional days to discuss something. If we were debating a means of altering the course of a world ending astroid then days would matter.

I guess it doesn’t matter since our governments are just jockeying to establish another tax on us.

If That’s How You Feel

Dip shit Helmke of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Ownership is spewing out stupidity again. This is the second post in a row that I’ve sourced from Snowflakes in Hell.

I won’t link directly to the Brady Campaign site so you’ll have to go through Snowflakes in Hell to check this but here is a quote from Helmke:

“It is dangerous for Congress to dictate to Amtrak how to handle guns on passenger trains. Trying to micromanage Amtrak security is inappropriate at best, reckless at worst. But now that Congress has decided to allow passengers to be able to transport firearms in checked luggage on trains operated by Amtrak, at least their negotiators have responded to some of the safety concerns raised by gun violence prevention advocates.

Of course Snowflakes in Hell points how oxymoronic this statement is since Helmke said the exact opposite some time ago but I’m going to say something different about this.

I agree with Helmk *GASP* on one point. Congress shouldn’t be allowed to dictate the inner workings of a private company like Amtrak. But get this. Amtrak only exists because of federal government subsidies. Amtrak doesn’t actually make enough money to keep themselves afloat. So here is my proposal.

I say Amtrak be allowed to ban guns and run things however they want. But in exchange for this freedom they no longer are allowed to receive ANY tax payer money. Fair? Because while they receive MY tax money they will play by MY rules as much as I can make them.

This Should Restart the Caliber Wars

Not that the caliber wars ever ended. But people supporting the 9mm always say it has to be good since our military dumped the .45 for it. Well more evidence is showing our military is looking at reinstating the .45 with a firearm to be designated the M45.

Lets the pissing match CONTINUE!
